Let’s spark joy in this house!
I’ve been absolutely loving my living room and closet area. Everything is organized, minimalist, and clean. It brings a smile to my face when I walk into these rooms because only the items I have chosen to stay are in my home. A home full of joy. Thanks, Marie Kondo! I’m a true fan.
I had been dreading and putting off tidying my kitchen simply because I knew a lot of things had to go, but where would I find time to do it? It only happened when I put pencil to paper on my calendar and scheduled a full 8 hours to cleaning out the kitchen (More on my tidying series here). This included deciding the spark factor of each item, decluttering what I didn’t want, and reorganizing each item. It was like a feng shui for my dishware. They are happy now! The process in its entirety was exhausting, and since I anticipated that, I woke up early on Saturday morning and made my coffee. It was time for my kitchen to scream JOY!
I did not go in a particular order, although you probably should.
Some before photos. Many bags of brown sugar found later….now we know not to buy any more for the next 43 months.
You will find that by creating a kitchen that sparks joy, you will see what you have and don’t, creating an even more budget-friendly household. You thought you had it all put together until you empty out your cabinets, didn’t you?? =P
In the end, my kitchen became a place (finally) I wanted to be in more often. It inspired more cooking, baking, and using up the items we already have instead of purchasing doubles by accident. Have you all tackled your kitchen already? Let me know how long and it took and how it looks like now! I love being inspired.
