So far, I’ve been reading a book a month this year. I’ve realized that is what my lifestyle allows and it makes me happy that at least I am reading far more than last year, so I shouldn’t punish myself for not reading “enough.”
This month, I decided to switch to a mystery novel rather than a self-help book. The change was drastic, and I am so far loving the book. It’s called “The Butterfly Garden” by Dot Hutchison and is told in first and third-person perspective. It’s pretty detailed in grotesque scenes (think Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), but if you’re a writer or a mystery novel fanatic, you’ll appreciate the imagery the author has created.
I’ve been reading just about 10 pages per day and I hopefully will finish this before the end of the month so I can take a new book with me to my summer vacation and start fresh. What are your summer reads? Are you taking a book with you somewhere on vacation?
I’m not sure what I will be taking just yet, but I can’t wait to look through my giant wishlist!
