Tomorrow I am leaving on my very first cruise with my husband and two close friends with their husbands. I am truly excited! Some of my best friends know that I used to be a hoarder (well, not clinically-speaking, but as close as possible to it, I would say!).
Moving every year to a new dorm was brutal, and I could almost guess nobody wanted to help me. I would always be so confused as to how I acquired so many clothes and items that I never used. They would be in the back of the closet, collecting dust and old memories.
Bags and bags and bags later, everything was hauled off back home until the next academic school year. You could see why I’m very thankful having read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy. Thanks, Marie!
I wanted to carryover my minimalist lifestyle to my packing abilities as best as I could. I researched a bit around Pinterest and found a solution that would require a bit of organization when using in the beginning. I had an old iTunes gift card, so I downloaded the Stylebook app on my iPhone. It’s an organizational app for all of the items in your closet to create looks and take inventory: shoes, accessories, shorts, skirts, tees, blouses, etc.
I am taking three tops, one blazer, three skirts, one pair of shorts, three dresses (all can be evening and day dresses), two bathing suits, and four pairs of shoes. All of these are combined for evening and day, including out on excursions. I’ve made 15 different looks/outfits using only these pieces with add-ons like a hat or sunglasses with a purse. I haven’t included all of them, but here is a close look at some of my outfits for seven days on a Caribbean cruise.
I hope this helps inspire you to carry one bag with minimal clothing! You’ll feel lighter mentally, too!
See you all wonderful people in a week!
