I’ve been keeping in touch with friends and family if they’re in Houston or nearby areas. This hurricane has done a lot of damage physically to businesses, buildings, and homes. I have been praying so much for God to protect our loved ones so they can return to normalcy soon!
If you would like to help families and strangers, here is a link that my friend Laura Marie began as a fundraiser to the Houston Food Bank. These families are temporarily displaced and are in need of help. It’s your time to shine and service these people!
What did I do throughout the weekend? Well, my company closed down on Friday and prohibited us to deliver services to clients or to come into the office. The winds were at 60 mph and the rain became a bit wild to say the least. I haven’t seen a downpour like that in a while. Jason and I read, watched T.V., bonded, and crafted a bit. We both got a little creative and got inspired to make some soap and make a mini-shoot out of it. That’s what hurricanes can do to you! Our poor dogs were not amused.
I make these pumpkin spice bars at the end of summer so that they’re ready in the fall to give away as gifts. They smell AMAZING.
They’re rough cuts of soap since I just used a silly kitchen knife (that I only use for soaping). But I just bought a wire slicer so I’m excited!
Aside from regular, natural bars, I love to make “sweet treats.” I’ve been making things out of molds I’ve created such as Maria cookies, and now, donuts! I’m experimenting with coloring so I am going to do a hot pink donut with sprinkles next time. They smell yummy also!
These are melt-and-pour soaps and are much easier to make than cold-processed ones, in my opinion. Of course, things can get technical so whatever your method, it’s soap!
These are goat-milk cubes of glycerin I melted, so they lather up very nicely.
Theres a few other bars I will be making to perfect some touches in past soaps I have needed to work on. Since I will be making way too many, (as per usual) I have decided to open up an Etsy shop to continue to get them out of my home and into somebody’s hands (literally). Since I love to learn, I know that I will just have an overload amount of soaps I will be making, so I think this would be a good start to not have my husband be mad at me 🙂
I’ll be updating with more photos soon.
Also, here’s a hilarious video my husband made of me CUTTING soap. Like, I literally asked him to hold my phone for ten seconds so he can record and he says, “Nope. I have a better idea.” 15 minutes later, the whole studio is set up in the kitchen. LOL. Nothing can stop him from a mini project! Check out the sensual gloving going on there. Oh. My. Gosh. Dying. We still watch it over and over again just to cry-laugh. I love that man.
I hope everyone stays dry this weekend!
